About this tool
Counts the working days in a range and shows its working: how many weekend days there were, which public holidays fell inside it by name, and how many of those landed on a weekend and so cost nothing.
Working days are the unit real deadlines are written in. Notice periods, delivery windows, court and administrative time limits, sick leave and holiday allowances, invoice payment terms - all of them count Monday to Friday and skip public holidays, and all of them differ from a plain day count by enough to matter. Two weeks and ten working days sound alike and are usually four days apart.
Showing the breakdown rather than a single number is deliberate. A count you cannot check is a count you have to trust, and the most common source of a wrong answer is a holiday that fell on a Saturday - it looks like it should reduce the total, and it does not, because that day was not a working day to begin with. Naming each holiday makes the total auditable in a few seconds.
The Polish moveable holidays are computed rather than looked up: Easter Sunday comes from the Meeus/Butcher algorithm, and Easter Monday, Pentecost and Corpus Christi follow from it. That means the calculation is correct for any year rather than for the years someone remembered to add to a table.
An hours-per-day figure turns the count into working hours, which is the form most useful for a project estimate or an invoice. Everything runs in your browser.

Questions people actually ask
- Which Polish holidays are applied?
- All thirteen statutory public holidays: New Year, Epiphany, Easter Sunday and Monday, Labour Day, Constitution Day, Pentecost, Corpus Christi, the Assumption, All Saints, Independence Day, and both days of Christmas.
- Are the moveable holidays computed?
- Yes. Easter Sunday is calculated with the Meeus/Butcher algorithm, and Easter Monday, Pentecost and Corpus Christi are derived from it. Nothing is read from a hard-coded table, so the answer is right for any year rather than only for the years someone remembered to fill in.
- Why didn't a holiday reduce my total?
- Because it fell at the weekend, and a Saturday was never a working day to begin with. This is the most common reason two working-day counts disagree, which is why each holiday is listed with the day it landed on rather than folded into a single number.
- Do holidays that fall on a Saturday give a day off?
- In Poland, yes for employers, but not in a way this count reflects: the Labour Code requires an employer to grant another day off for a public holiday falling on a Saturday. That is an entitlement within a settlement period, not a fixed date, so it cannot be placed on a calendar here. If you are counting an employee's actual days off, add those separately.
- Can I count working days in another country?
- Not yet - the holiday table is Polish. Turn holidays off to count plain weekdays, which is correct anywhere, and subtract that country's holidays by hand. Per-country holiday sets are a candidate for a future version.
