About this tool
See the Moon's phase name, illuminated fraction and approximate age in its cycle for any date. Select a city or coordinates to add moonrise and moonset in the correct local time zone.
The phase depends on the geometry of the Sun, Earth and Moon and is effectively the same worldwide at one moment; rise and set times depend strongly on location. That is why the date and place controls affect different parts of the result.
Values are calculated locally with SunCalc. They are useful for planning and general information, not for navigation or observatory-grade ephemerides.
