About this tool
Choose a city or enter coordinates to calculate sunrise, sunset, solar noon, civil twilight and day length for a specific date. The result uses the selected location's time zone, so the times are ready to read without a second conversion.
Sunrise and sunset are astronomical calculations for a standard observer near sea level. Terrain, buildings, elevation and atmospheric conditions can move the moment you actually see the Sun, especially near the horizon. At extreme latitudes, some events do not occur on a given date and are shown as unavailable.
Calculations run locally with the open-source SunCalc library. Coordinates are used only in your browser and no location permission is requested.

Questions people actually ask
- Why can the observed sunrise differ from the calculation?
- The calculation assumes a standard horizon and atmosphere. Mountains, buildings, observer elevation and refraction can shift when the Sun first becomes visible.
- What is civil twilight?
- The period when the Sun is just below the horizon but there is usually enough natural light for ordinary outdoor activity. Morning civil twilight ends at sunrise; evening civil twilight begins at sunset.
