Digits kept in the answer. Automatic keeps six, which hides floating-point noise without losing anything real.

About this tool
Type a conversion the way you would say it - "5 km to mi", "180 lb in kg", "72 °F to °C" - and get the answer as you type. Covers length, area, volume, mass, time, temperature, speed and pace, angle and slope, pressure, energy, power, force, torque, density, flow, fuel economy, data size and transfer, frequency, electrical quantities, light and radiation. Paste a whole column to convert every line at once. Omit the target unit to see every everyday unit of that quantity.

Questions people actually ask
- Is a kilobyte 1000 or 1024 bytes?
- Both units exist and this tool keeps them apart. A kilobyte (kB) is 1000 bytes and a kibibyte (KiB) is 1024, as defined by IEC 80000-13. That difference is why a drive sold as 1 TB is reported by Windows as about 931 GB - Windows is really showing gibibytes.
- Are the conversion factors exact?
- Most are exact by definition: an inch is exactly 0.0254 m and a pound exactly 0.45359237 kg under the 1959 international agreement, so those conversions are limited only by rounding. A few units are measured or conventional rather than defined - Mach, the Earth's radius, the dalton - and the tool says so with the result.
- Why is a 100 % slope 45 degrees and not 90?
- Slope in percent is rise divided by run, so 100 % means rising one metre for every metre travelled - a 45° angle. A vertical wall has no finite percentage at all. That is why grade converts through a tangent rather than a fixed factor.
- Can it convert mAh to Wh, or litres to kilograms?
- No, and deliberately. A milliamp-hour is a charge and a watt-hour is an energy; converting between them needs the battery's voltage. Litres to kilograms needs the substance's density. Assuming a value would produce a confident, wrong number, so the tool tells you the quantities differ instead.
- Does my input leave my device?
- No. The whole unit table and the conversion run in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere. The tool also works with the network switched off once the page has loaded.
- How do I write the number?
- Both 1.5 and 1,5 work, and spaces may group thousands. When a comma could be read either way - 1,500 - the tool follows the language of the page and tells you how it read the value.
